Migrating Birds in Gran Canaria

October 13th, 2008 · No Comments

Many people come to Gran Canaria for the wildlife. Not only can you visit Palmitos Park Gran Canaria but you can take dolphin trips in Gran Canaria, spot sea turtles on various boat trips, see iguanas on many paths and see different fish when snorkeling or scuba diving but there are more birds here than you might have expected (of the feathered variety also!)

If you are walking and hiking in Gran Canaria, there is a good chance to see wildlife. At the moment there are also a lot of migrating birds. Scottish ospreys en route from Scandinavia, Scotland, Spain and France to Senegal can be seen on their six thousand mile journey. The grey plover, cattle egret and black kite have been sighted along south east coast, with Castillo de Romeral and the Maspalomas Lagoon being good places to spot them.

Have a look here for a guide to the other birds you might find in Gran Canaria.
