The weather in Gran Canaria is generally warm and sunny but there are a few exceptions! The weather in the north can vary from the south but usually just by a few degrees.

If you want to find out the current weather you can look at http://www.meteomaspalomas.com/ if you are staying in Maspalomas or Playa del Inglés, or http://www.weathergrancanaria.com/weatherstation/wx.htm if you are going to be based in

Puerto Rico. If you plan to be in the north, look at http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/60030.html for today’s forecast.

If you are deciding when to come, have a look at the following links for an overview of the weather and a guide to what’s on in that month:

The above are guidelines for what my past 6 years have been like here. There are, of course, exceptions. Two years ago, we had Hurricane Delta, destroying both the harbours, ripping down palm trees and overturning boats and cars! We also get a couple of siroccos and calimas a year, when the pink sand blows over from the Sahara and the air temperature can rise to 50ºC (it hit 60ºC for 10 minutes 4 years back – now that wasn’t nice!) But on the whole, you can expect hot, sunny days and warm evenings. Don’t forget your sun cream!
