San Agustín Gran Canaria

Unless you are actually staying in San Agustín you might not get to see this part of the island. Most people on holiday in Gran Canaria are in either Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas or Puerto Rico but San Agustín is ideal if you are after somewhere a bit quieter and more relaxed.

I used to live there and walk to walk in Playa del Inglés (takes about 20 minutes and you can walk along the coast). There are a few big hotels in San Agustín, sometimes spelled San Augustin, as well as Hotel Tamarindos where the casino is.

San Agustín Beach

The beach of San Agustín Gran Canaria is quite popular with Canarians at the weekends but quiet in the week. It is less than half a mile long and the sand is brown rather than golden. It is protected against the waves so you can snorkel or swim there.

Where to Eat

There are a couple of seafood restaurants behind the San Agustín beach or you could wander down to the shopping centre. I haven’t been to San Agustín for a while but there used to be a really good Greek restaurant, a French restaurant and some snack bars. There are also various bars there if you want to go to San Agustín one evening.

How to Get There

If you want to visit San Agustín you can either walk along the coast road from Playa del Inglés or you can get a number 1 or 91 bus. A taxi from Playa del Inglés costs about 4 euros.
