The Cunning Canary

The Morasol Suites is quite a popular aparthotel. Situated next to Marina Suites in Puerto Base, it is a 5 minute walk from Puerto Rico beach and 10 minute walk from the main shopping centre.

It is a modern aparthotel with wooden floors and new furniture in each room and you can have satellite TV, air conditioning and a fully equipped kitchen for self catering. The air conditioners in the living rooms go down to 15ºC but the ones in the bedrooms go down to 5ºC if you want to pretend you’re back home!!

One of the Best Gran Canaria Restaurants

If you like good food, El Gaucho in Playa del Ingles is a fantastic restaurant! When I lived in Playa del Ingles I often went with my boyfriend for special occasions because the food is great and so is the atmosphere. In the summer they roll back the soft roof so you can see the stars and get plenty of fresh air (well, it’s cheaper than air conditioning I suppose!)

Where is it?

You will find El Gaucho between the Metro centre and Kasbah centre, near the church, and it’s quite a big restaurant so you don’t need to make a reservation.

Christmas in Gran Canaria is very special and a lot of people come every year. Actually, if you are thinking about coming for Christmas holidays in the sun, you might like to book now because a lot of the hotels in Gran Canaria get very full over Christmas and that’s when the prices go up!

The Christmas traditions in Gran Canaria are very enjoyable and you can see Canarian cribs in the town squares and houses and hear carols being sung. The main streets are decorated with Christmas lights and on January 5th, which is Epiphany, you can see the Procession of the Three Kings. This is also called Dia del Reyes and it’s when the Canarian children get their presents.
