Playa de la Alcaravaneras

If you are staying in Las Palmas then Playa de la Alcaravaneras is a very close beach. Situated in the northeast of Gran Canaria, Playa de la Alcaravaneras has calm water and golden sands. There are cafes, restaurants and bars nearby so you can take a break from sunbathing to sample some tasty Canarian cooking.

The Real Club Nautico is north of this beach and the Varadero Sailing Club is to the south, so there are plenty of yachts to admire. You can get to Playa de la Alcaravaneras by bus or car and there are cheap car parks nearby. Get the number 328 bus from Las Palmas’ San Telmo stop to Playa de la Caravaneras. It costs 1.30 each way and you can see the timetable here:http://www.globalsu.net/lineas/linea328.pdf

Playa de las Canteras might be the best known beach in Las Palmas but Playa de la Alcaravaneras is well worth a visit. Not only is it the second biggest beach in Las Palmas, stretching for more than a kilometre, but its central location make it perfect if your hotel is in Las Palmas.

Avenida Maratima runs alongside this beach and this is popular with joggers and cyclists.  You might see canoeing or sailing because the sea in this area is so tranquil. There are facilities on the beach for sports like volleyball and also local indoor courts for basketball, soccer and other activities.
