WOMAD takes place between 12th and 15th November 2009, in Parque Santa Catalina, Las Palmas.

WOMAD is the World of Music, Arts and Dance and this festival features artists from all over the world. WOMAD aims to create awareness of the potential and worth of a multicultural society via educational projects and recorded releases, as well as performance events and festivals.

WOMAD this year features among other things adult workshops, kids’ workshops, DJ sessions, a global market, children’s parade and performances by a variety of artists. Some of the featured artists at WOMAD Gran Canaria this year are:

  • The Black Swan Effect (United Kingdom)

  • Spiro (United Kingdom)
  • Eliades Ochoa (Cuba)
You can get the bus directly to Parque Santa Catalina if you are not going to be staying in or near Las Palmas. The buses are about 5€ from Puerto Rico, Maspalomas, San Agustín or Playa del Inglés and they are every 20 or 30 minutes.
